California 100 Announces Advisory Council

California 100, a statewide effort that seeks to build a vision and strategy for the state’s long-term future,  announced today the formation of an expert Advisory Council to provide targeted guidance to the initiative’s executive team and staff.

The Advisory Council draws on a diverse set of leaders from across the state, including those bringing relevant experience and expertise from business and labor, social justice advocacy groups, non-profit organizations, philanthropy, educational institutions, and government. The Advisory Council will provide the executive team with targeted reviews and insights on research, policy innovation, and engagement, as well as connections to aligned efforts across the state. 

The announcement of the California 100 Advisory Council builds on the initiative’s strong momentum on sponsored research that draws on a multitude of research partners from across the state and the creation of an intergenerational Commission tasked with inspiring a vision and designing strategies for the state’s success in the coming century. 

“Our advisory council will lend their expertise to California 100 staff and commissioners as we move forward with our research, engagement activities, and policy demonstration projects,” said Karthick Ramakrishnan, executive director of California 100. “We are excited to strengthen our initiative through their expertise and counsel.”

California 100 announced research awards in July to 18 centers and institutes across the state that will examine future scenarios with the potential to shape California’s leadership in the coming century, with a focus on 13 priority research areas. The research is in final review and will be shared with the public and later tested through deliberative polling exercises and engagement sessions directly with Californians in 2022. 

The goal of California 100 is to lift up and support transformative ideas, people and projects that accelerate progress with a focus on inspiring a vision and strategy for California’s next century that is innovative, sustainable, and equitable. In addition to sponsoring original work, the California 100 Platform will promote the best of what is happening in California. Through these various projects and activities, California 100 seeks to move California towards an aspirational vision—changing policies and practices, attitudes and mindsets, for a more vibrant future.

California 100 is organized among interrelated streams of work: research, policy innovation, advanced technology and engagement. Each stream is led by a director and strengthened through a growing list of partners in the public and private sector.
