Californians have an incredible capacity for innovation, and there are countless sources for new and exciting ideas that can advance the state in the coming century. In this spirit, California 100 partnered with the Possibility Lab at the University of California to support demonstration projects at both the state and local level. These projects focused on designing and rigorously testing big ideas that have the potential to advance California, but have not yet been attempted or accomplished at scale.
In addition to demonstration projects, California 100 also aims to bring new voices into the process of policy innovation. We know that policy expertise can be found not just in our universities and halls of government, but also in our local communities. That’s why California 100 supported participatory research across the state. These projects aimed to generate new, community-centered ways of understanding and measuring our progress and success.
