California is working on creating the first high-speed rail system in the nation. This ambitious project will connect Southern California and Northern California through a rail system that will run from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Under Phase 1, the High-Speed Rail Authority estimates that a passenger can expect to ride in trains exceeding 200 miles per hour and connect to each respective city in under 3 hours. The system will eventually extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations, and in the process, create thousands of jobs and boost local economies.
